Counselling Services

Offering a supportive environment to let your true self flourish

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Susannah Ramsay Therapy. I am a counsellor providing both short- and long-term therapy to adult individuals in Stirling and the surrounding areas.

My approach

My name is Susannah Ramsay (she/her). As a Stirling-based registered psychodynamic counsellor, I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to help you explore your emotions, past experiences and relationships and how they can impact your present life.

Difficult past experiences can erode our sense of self, leading to a life that is unfulfilled. Psychodynamic counselling explores unconscious and conscious processes to help you move forward in a more fulfilled way. My approach aims to encourage self-awareness, understanding, meaning and reconnection.

In harmony with my therapeutic approach, I may draw on my coaching skills, where and when appropriate. Coaching enables you to focus on aspects of your life that you would like to improve or have greater satisfaction in. The coaching approach is more direct and goal orientated, and can help with breaking unhelpful habits or patterns, or life events such as relationship changes, or new job/career changes. Integrating coaching into counselling aims to offer greater learning, growth and fulfilment.

I provide short-term and long-term private counselling to individuals.

About me

My professional counselling experience includes working with third-sector voluntary organisations and secondary schools. I have supported individuals who have experienced anxiety, depression, bereavement/loss, stress, childhood trauma and abuse, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, suicidal thoughts and low self-esteem.

I have a background in the creative industries, specifically working in film and television. I have also worked as a tutor while completing my doctorate in phenomenology and creative practice at the University of Stirling. Researching phenomenology, or the study of embodied experience, has been integral to my therapeutic training and practice.

I am supported by regular individual and peer supervision and undertake relevant professional development training to enhance my knowledge and practice. As a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, I am bound by their Ethical Frameworks for Good Practice.

I am a current member of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme, Disclosure Scotland.
